Although it is only a few minutes’ walk from teeming Alexanderplatz, time in the Klosterviertel quarter seems to stand still. The prevailing atmosphere is tranquil, idyllic and almost village-like. An ideal location for unwinding from the hustle and bustle of the big city. As you can, for instance, at the ‘Zur letzten Instanz’ restaurant, the oldest hostelry in Berlin, which, with its pretty beer garden and traditional snugs, is an inviting spot to enjoy à la carte Berlin cuisine.
It consists of three town houses built in the Middle Ages and authentically restored in the 1960s. Na- poleon once stayed there and celebrities such as Charlie Chaplin, Heinrich Zille, Clara Zetkin and Otto Nagel made the restaurant famous in the 1920s.
